New York City is a canvas painted with hues of romance. As an artistic and documentary-style photographer, I find Central Park to be a quintessential backdrop for capturing the timeless moments of love in the city. I believe in capturing photos in a way that tells the story of your love, and what better place to do so than Central Park?

Central Park is a sanctuary in the midst of the bustling city and offers a mesmerizing blend of nature and urban charm. From vibrant foliage in the spring to golden hues in the autumn, each season unveils a unique backdrop that enhances the beauty of every engagement session. Sam and Zack decided to take their engagement photos in Central Park during a trip to New York City in December. Even during the colder months, Central Park still offers a stunning backdrop for some of the most iconic photos in New York.

Central Park isn’t just a location; it’s an experience. The park’s diverse landscapes provide a stunning variety of settings, from the iconic Bethesda Terrace to the romantic Bow Bridge. Every turn tells a different story, allowing us to create a personalized engagement session that reflects the unique love between each couple.

I recommend at least 2 hours for an engagement session in Central Park since there’s so much to explore and get inspired by. Sam and Zack started their engagement session at Bethesda Terrace and The Arcade in Central Park and then we walked over to The Met where they liked to go on dates during visits to NYC. This allowed us to create a gallery of images that was diverse super personal to them!

So what time should you take engagement photos in Central Park? I recommend starting your engagement session around 30 minutes after sunrise or around 1 hour before sunset begins. This will allow you enough time for the sun to glow just over the buildings to give you the most flattering light. I do prefer sunrise, since it’s usually a much quieter time in Central Park with less foot traffic. New York City also is very unpredictable weather-wise, so make sure to plan ahead for rain and temperature changes.

Central Park is such an iconic and timeless location that is the perfect place to have images taken on film. I capture photos on both digital and 35mm film, and love how the colors of Central Park and New York City are represented in my film images. They create a certain classic and nostalgic feeling to your gallery that adds to your overall story.

Central Park is not just a location; it’s a love story waiting to be told. If you feel drawn to capture your story at any of the iconic spots inside Central Park, contact me today and let’s start dreaming up your perfect engagement session!
